The Alvin Tree Farm, part of Houston's New Nurseries, grows around 80 different species of trees, shrubs, and plants on its 34-acre site at 3903 Highway 35 South. The tree farm specializes in growing cultivars (patented plant varieties) specifically suitable for the Houston-area climate, such as plants more resistant to the often brutal heat and humidity. The tree farm has recently increased their inventory and now offers a growing selection of material ideal for the Austin, Dallas and San Antonio markets as well.
